WhatsApp for iOS Introduces New Group Chat Event Feature

WhatsApp for iOS has launched a new feature that allows users to create events directly in group chats. This feature was previously available in beta versions for Android users but is now being made available in the stable version of the app for iPhone users. This new addition builds upon other features currently in development, such as quick replies to video notes and an in-app dialer for the Calls tab.

The latest WhatsApp for iOS app version 24.13.72 now includes the option to create events in group chats, as reported by WABetaInfo. Prior to this update, users could only create events in Communities, limiting the scope of such interactions. With this new feature, users can easily create an event by tapping the “+” icon in the chat, entering details such as event name, description, start time, and location. Users also have the option to include a WhatsApp call link to start a call during the event.

The Event feature is now available to all WhatsApp for iOS users, with Gadgets 360 staff confirming access after updating to the latest app version. It is worth noting that new features are typically rolled out gradually, so it may take some time for all users to access the Event option in their group chats.

WhatsApp has also introduced Meta AI chatbot to various regions, with reports suggesting that users may soon be able to choose between two AI models: Llama 3-70B and Llama 3-405B. The former is a smaller model focused on quick responses, while the latter boasts 400 billion parameters, making it Meta’s largest LLM model. However, the Llama 3-405B AI model has not been released to the public yet, hinting at potential future developments in WhatsApp’s AI capabilities.

The introduction of the Event feature in WhatsApp for iOS group chats marks a significant step towards enhancing user engagement and interaction within the platform. With the addition of new features like quick replies and AI chatbots, WhatsApp continues to evolve and offer users a more dynamic and engaging messaging experience. Users can look forward to more updates and improvements as WhatsApp further develops its features and functionalities to meet the growing demands of its user base.
