Exploring the New Jabra Elite Earbuds: Gen 2 Upgrades and LE Audio Charging Case

Jabra has recently announced the release of the upgraded versions of the Elite 10 and Elite 8 Active earbuds, now known as “Gen 2.” These new earbuds come with improvements in sound quality, noise cancellation, and other essential features. However, the standout feature of these new earbuds is the inclusion of the LE Audio charging case, which allows users to plug the case into external devices and transmit audio directly to the buds.

The Elite 10 and 8 Gen 2 earbuds connect to the LE Audio charging case using the LC3 Bluetooth codec, which promises to reduce perceptible latency significantly. This means that users can now connect their earbuds to devices like the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck over USB-C and experience perfectly synced audio at all times. By opting for LE Audio technology, Jabra aims to provide a seamless audio experience across different devices without the need for the latest Bluetooth chip in the smartphone.

While the outer design of both the Elite 10 Gen 2 and Elite 8 Gen 2 earbuds remains unchanged, there are some notable differences. The Elite 10 Gen 2 features a semi-open design for a more natural and comfortable fit in the ear, while the Elite 8 Gen 2 offers enhanced durability with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating and MIL-STD-810h ruggedization. Jabra has also improved the head tracking and Dolby Atmos spatial audio experience for the Elite 10 Gen 2, along with enhanced active noise cancellation and transparency mode for both models.

The highlight of the new Jabra Elite earbuds is undoubtedly the LE Audio charging case, which allows users to transmit audio from external devices directly to the earbuds. This feature provides clear use cases, such as plugging the case into a treadmill or in-flight entertainment system for a personalized listening experience. Unlike “smart” charging cases with screens, the LE Audio case focuses on functionality and practicality.

The Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 earbuds are priced at $279, while the Elite 8 Gen 2 earbuds come in at a slightly lower price point of $229. Both models will be available in mid-June in a range of colors. Stay tuned for upcoming reviews that will delve deeper into the capabilities of these earbuds and explore the unique features of the LE Audio charging case.

The Jabra Elite Gen 2 earbuds offer a compelling combination of upgraded sound quality, advanced features, and the innovative LE Audio charging case. With improvements in design, audio performance, and connectivity, these earbuds are poised to deliver an immersive listening experience for users across various devices and use cases.
