DJI, known for its drones, has decided to expand into the world of electric bikes with the launch of its new Avinox drive system and Amflow e-bike brand. This move has caught the attention of competitors like Bosch and Specialized due to the innovative features packed into their first e-bike offering.
Avinox Drive System and Features
The Avinox drive system on the Amflow PL electric mountain bike boasts an impressive 120Nm of max torque and 1000W of on-demand boost power, making it suitable for even the steepest inclines. The mid-drive motor is rated for 250W of nominal output, with an 850W peak, and is described as “remarkably quiet.” Moreover, the 800Wh battery on the e-bike can fast-charge from zero to 75 percent in just 1.5 hours with the Amflow 2A/508W GaN charger.
Despite its power and battery capacity, the Amflow PL is relatively lightweight at just 19.2kg. This is achieved through the use of carbon fiber for the frame and the Avinox drive system. The bike also features a two-inch color OLED touchscreen display integrated into the frame, an Avinox app for wireless access to riding data, an alarm system for security purposes, and four pedal-assist modes.
According to Christina Zhang, senior director of corporate strategy at DJI, the expertise gained from battery and motor technology in drones and camera stabilization systems has informed the development of the Avinox drive system. The company has also been working on intelligent driving solutions for automobiles and consumer battery products. The integration of these technologies has resulted in the creation of the Amflow PL e-bike.
Pricing and Availability
The Amflow PL is set to be released in Q4 at a price range of €7,000 to €12,000, putting it in direct competition with other premium electric sport bikes on the market.
Overall, DJI’s foray into the electric bike market showcases their commitment to innovation and excellence in technology. With the Avinox drive system and Amflow e-bike brand, they are set to make a significant impact on the industry.
