Recently, a company called LobbyMatic has come under fire for its questionable practices and lack of transparency. The company, which claims to have AI-powered software that can revolutionize the way we monitor congressional hearings and research legislative and regulatory issues, has been accused of operating under false identities. According to Politico, sources have revealed that Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, known for their past attempts at scandalizing public figures, are running the company under the pseudonyms “Jay Klein” and “Bill Sanders.”
Former employees of LobbyMatic have disclosed alarming details about the company’s operations. One employee accompanied “Bill Sanders” to a house in Arlington, VA, only to recognize it as the same house where Wohl and Burkman had previously held press conferences. Additionally, some employees heard “Jay Klein” being referred to as “Jacob,” further fueling suspicions about the true identities of the company’s leaders.
Wohl and Burkman have a history of engaging in controversial and unethical behavior. In the past, they have attempted to smear the reputations of public figures such as Robert Mueller, Pete Buttigieg, and Elizabeth Warren with baseless allegations. Furthermore, in 2020, the duo was charged in Michigan and Ohio for running a fraudulent robocalling scheme aimed at discouraging voters from participating in the elections. They eventually pleaded guilty to telecommunications fraud in Ohio and were sentenced in 2022.
In response to the allegations made by Politico and other news outlets, LobbyMatic has resorted to a damage control strategy. When contacted for comment, the company sent a video featuring a man who bears a striking resemblance to Jacob Wohl. In the video, the man acknowledges his involvement in partisan politics in the past but emphasizes that he has since moved on to other pursuits. However, he fails to directly address the claims of operating under false names or clarify the leadership structure of LobbyMatic.
The LobbyMatic scandal sheds light on the dangers of unchecked corporate behavior and the manipulation of technology for unethical purposes. As consumers and stakeholders, it is essential to remain vigilant and hold companies accountable for their actions. The case of LobbyMatic serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct in the business world.
