WhatsApp Rolls Out New Safety Feature for Group Messaging

In cases where users find themselves in a group they do not wish to be a part of, the context card provides a Safety tools option. This allows users to easily report any problematic content within the group. Additionally, users have the option to exit the group if they do not want to participate in the conversation.

WhatsApp is currently rolling out these new group context cards to users worldwide. This update is part of the platform’s continued efforts to enhance user safety and provide tools for users to manage their group interactions effectively.

Back in 2019, WhatsApp introduced a privacy setting under Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups, which allowed users to prevent strangers from adding them to groups. When this setting is enabled, users will receive an invitation to join a group whenever someone outside their contact list tries to add them. Users are given three days to accept the invitation before it expires.
