Instagram, the popular photo and video sharing platform owned by Meta, is rumored to be making some significant changes in the near future. From allowing users early access to experimental features to incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into its app, Instagram seems to be on the brink of some major updates.
Traditionally, users looking to access Instagram’s beta features could only do so through the Android Beta program. However, a recent leak suggests that Instagram is planning to introduce a new way for users to get early access to features. The rumored “early access” option may allow users to experiment with in-development features through an alternate method. A screenshot shared by developer Alessandro Paluzzi hints that this option might be available in the Settings and activity tab, with “early access to features” as the last option. This move could potentially bring Instagram in line with platforms like Google Search Labs and YouTube Experiments, where users can try out experimental features before they are officially released.
Aside from the possibility of early access to features, Instagram is also reportedly working on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its app. One of the features being worked on is the ability for users to generate themes for chats using AI. Currently, Instagram allows users to customize chat themes with options like gradients and colors, as well as offering special themes. A screenshot shared by Paluzzi reveals a new “Create with AI” option alongside other chat themes. This feature could potentially revolutionize the way users interact with each other on the platform, opening up new possibilities for personalization and customization.
In addition to early access to features and AI integration, Instagram is also rumored to be working on bringing cross-posting to the platform. This functionality would enable users to easily share content from Instagram to Threads, Meta’s microblogging platform that competes directly with X (formerly Twitter). Much like the existing cross-posting feature between Instagram and Facebook, this new functionality could streamline the process of sharing content across Meta’s various platforms.
As Instagram continues to evolve and adapt to the changing landscape of social media, these upcoming features and updates could play a crucial role in shaping the platform’s future. From early access to experimental features to the integration of artificial intelligence, Instagram is clearly focused on staying ahead of the curve and providing users with new and innovative ways to connect and engage on the platform. Keep an eye out for these developments as they could reshape the Instagram experience for millions of users worldwide.
